Monkey Butt = Dumb Butt = Sucks
Most stock cruiser seats will give you this since a lot of pressure is right on your tailbone. |

I've never heard about this before, butt it explains my sore arse from the past couple of weeks of daily riding.
My kids are now running around the house laughing that "Dad is a Monkey Butt"
Does it eventually go away as you get used to riding, or do i need to make ..AHH..some adjustments? |

A buddy of mine swears by the beaded seats. BUT don't buy a cheap one. He was riding with one that he had "made" from a beaded car seat.... the knots came out and all the beads started flying all over the road. It's funny now,BUT the rest of us in the group weren't to happy as we dodged all the marbles bouncing all over the road.

Yikes!
I hear those sheepskin pads work really well too. Also disipates the heat.
Although, it would look a bit strange on the older style bike... |

Yes you should get a good beaded seat ;ike Sampson...I had one custom made for my Yamaha Majesty 400 it worked like a dream on a long trip...here's the link to the maker if anyone is interested.

| Yeah, used to get monkey butt from riding the mower, or being on the bike all day. We used to call it Baboon A$$ though. A sprinkle of Gold Bond will set you free. |

Sheepskin works well but if you are going to be seated a long time you need to do other things too.
Heat builds up down there for obvious reasons.I'd work out how to get some ventilation around there. In summer here I wear ventilated motocross pants over knee pads and with the hip pads in. Not as much protection as leather but everything is a compromise eh.If you can safely do so... practise standing up on the pegs as you ride every now and again. If that involves getting off the highway and stooging a little way down a back road probably a good thing to break the rhythm of the trip anyway.
A 3-4 minute stroll around every hour or so works wonders to ease and vent the butt area, will freshen you generally, and probably greatly enhance safety. Do that and you'll be fit to ride for longer in a day anyway...so nothing lost.
If you not worried about being a bit bulky then a pair of lycra cycle shorts with the chamois sewn into the butt will work wonders, worn under whatever trouser you are using.
Airhawk make a great air cushion seat in lots of sizes. Just Google 'Airhawk'. I use their 'pillion pad' to give my wife something decent to sit on when we bush bash on our XR250.
If you are riding a cruiser out on the open road the riding position and placement of bars will have a huge effect.. On an early VT750 Shadow Honda my wife had I used to get respite when solo riding it outside of town by strapping a sleeping bag , or any soft bag stuffed full , on the pillion seat so that the small of my back was supported and slightly pushed forward.
Best riding position solution. A Euro style riding position like the old XJ650 Euro of the CX400/500/650 Euro, with slightly rear seat rider pegs and a sit up and beg type bar that encourages a forward lean rather than a 'pullback' style like many cruisers. |

Hahahhahaha ... this was just discussed on the Canadian triples board today.
If you go out on a sled your butt sweats and freezes in you suit all day.
Hurt like hell and takes days to heal.
