CB175 1971
All of my manuals, websites, and other articles state to simply grab one of the two horns on the filter and pull it straight out. There's no "just pull it straight out". I've hit it with pb blaster, tried hammering lightly to losen, and just brute force pulling. No dice. Am I doing something wrong? Does the screw inside (visible cross head) need to come off first? All instructions do not mention the screw only just pulling the filter out. I feel like I'm missing something. Any ideas?

If the filter hasn't been cleaned in a long time, the fine particles that the filter spins out of the oil build up inside. They seep around the edges of the cap and can jam the sucker on pretty tight. Using the long 6mm bolt method usually works , but be gentle as you can strip the thread inside.
Had a CB350 once, so totally jammed with crud had to hacksaw around the rim to get the filter off, and bought another off Ebay.
Thanks. I had a feeling that the screw down the middle was causing the issue. All of the info shows otherwise. Nice. That screw is on there pretty tight. I have a feeling that this is going to be a huge challenge. Thanks for the help.
