I just aquired this little gem.

1981 DT 175 H.

I'm new to dirtbikes/2strokers in general. So, this project should be fun. I'm in the process of finding parts and getting her running. Seat cover to come later. If anyone has some knowledge about this bike and would like to tell me anything about it, I'm open ears.

Well over the years, after I got fed up with those 60's and early 70's Hondas that I owned (BAck in the 60's and 70's) I got smart, I bought a little CS3C (pre dated the RD series, but you folks know that) 5 speed 200cc 2 stroke machine. I still have it. I also bought a1976 or 77 I forget, XS650 special in midnight blue. Bought it brand new from Cycle City in Broomall. Kept it till I got a deal on a XV920 Virago in 1982 First year for the 920 Virago, which I kept for 13 years till some person took a left turn in front of me and I hit him broadside at 40 miles per with brakes locked. That was the end of my Yamaha years. Like I said still have my CS3C which is the little 2 stoke 200 with the high rise pipes for light off road riding. I also have a 85 XV700 project ongoing currently.

I've had a 1981 XS650 since new. I don't ride it hardly ever but I can't seem to part with it. It's in really great shape with only around 15,000 miles. New tires, battery, and no rust ever. It's thumper-rithum at it's best and a great ride around town. Maybe I just need to overhaul her appearance.Hmmm,,,,,

I currently have 3 yl1 100s , 2 of them are running and the other will soon. I just sold my 72 xs 600 ( miss it already) but Im really into the small yl1s right now. I have owned 2 or 3 1980's xs bikes and they were OK but I really want to get a RD 350 next. Im stuck on yamahas and I dont know why.

My latest ride is a 1982 Yamaha Seca 650 turbo. This has to be one of the best commuter bikes I have ever owned. I ride it to work every day and its great around town. The Only problem with it is that I can never seem to make it to work on time. Laughing

1979 Yamaha XS Eleven standard. This is my first Yamaha. I swapped out the rectangular instruments, headlight and turnsignals for the round units from the Special. I think it looks a lot better this way. I also put lower handlebars on it. Mechanically, it's excellent. I'm looking to put the larger European gas tank on it (6.3 gals instead of 5.3), and I want a pair of those spiral cast wheels Yamaha put on a lot of their bikes around 1980/81. I've done some research, and it looks like the 1.1 Sport in sold in Europe has exactly the rear wheel I need (17 inch, disc brake). Then it's time for some paint. I'm thinking jade green body work and everything else black.

I love to see the pics y'all have uploaded i need to get a digital camera ! I currently have a 1984 fj1100 with a '92 1200 motor bored 1 over with wiseco 10.25/1 pistons otherwise stock internals, a set of 33mm keihin cr special roundslides with a dyna 2000 ignition and 2.2 ohm dyna coils and wires. It has a set of 17" rims (fzr 600 front and cbr 600 rear) 92 forks, stock rear shock-original! Crying or Very sad. A supertrap pipe no discs and corbin gunfighter and lady saddle it has been my daily commuter for 10+ years. no car. my commute was 180 miles per day from '93-'98 thankfully now 80 miles round trip is about the most i need to do. It is a great for long distance or to go play in the twisties. I had two 1985 fj 600's a 1986 fz 600, an fz750 and still am happiest with the big fj. oh and i also currently have an '85 xt350. love the site

Hi All: I restored a 1975 XS650B last year (that model was the first bike I ever owned), now I'm working on restoring a 1971 XS1B that was on the scrap pile. I just couldn't stand to see this bike get trashed.
Even though I have a much larger daily driver, I still love the way my '75 handles plus it get's a lot of attention on the road!

very nice, the spokes for sure are better than mags on the 650's ive got a 76 im working on a brat style bobber, the winter project. when these things were new I had no intrest in them opting for 4cyls but after having one there a hoot to ride. The 71 your restoring will be worth some serious coin when finished.
that 75 is nice.

I've had many types of motorcycles but Yamaha is still my favorite. My current ride is a 1987 venture and a 1965 rotary jet 80. I just added a 1970 180 bonanza Friday to round it out. I rode a 850 special to Calfornia, made a couple of $$$ late at night on my hopped up RD400. Raced YZ's. I think the jap bikes are pretty much the same but my first was a Yamaha 80 so I guess that's where my heart lies.
