I have a '77 DT400 that needs a new reed valve. I found and bought one for a '78 model (Have not received it yet) According to a Yamaha web site the '77 & '78 have different part #'s.I'm replacing the cage and reed assembly. Both are four reed set-ups though. My question is should this one for the '78 work in the '77. Thanks for any help.

think you answered your own question, if yamaha says it won't fit it won't fit .... if you needed a new piston would you ask for any piston as long it's for a yamaha and expect it to fit?

Thanks for the reply, but I was hoping to hear from someone who had done this Very Happy . It's been my experience that P#'s can change from model years and the part remain the same. Looking athe the fiche all the related parts are the same (cylinder, reeds, stoppers and intake). The only part # that is different is the assembly. I guess I'll have to wait and see when it gets here. I may have a nice reed assembly to pass on Smile Thanks again.
