thought i would drop in and see where we can get into trouble next. most of you know me, but for those that dont, i am another honda guy. this will make 6 sites i am a member of related to old bikes. and i would love to hear a few complaints from someone other than a CB owner. "my carbs suck"," my engine is making a funny noise"," my petcock is dripping", "my dog keeps humping my leg" [no, wait, thats another site.]. nice to see the usual suspects all collected in one spot.
Welcome Rob, glad you could make it to the party!
Another complaint I want to hear is "my charging system isn't working." _________________ Pete

thanks kids. i have something that i think qualifies as a classic japanese bike. after months of chasing down the title, waiting for weather to break, and paying this baby off, i finally got to ride her home. there is a long and unfortunatly sad story to go with this bike. but i think it may have made it to a home. this is a first picture of it. by later this afternoon, it had started to look a lot better. put on turn signals, a new back tire, and some matching tail and side covers. thanks to the PO, she runs like a champ, but the previous owner didnt put much stock in appearances. the bike was for go, not show.

Ahh an '80's Honda VF. 750 or 500? What year? I think the last year on them was '86. There is a 1000 too. We have "his 'n hers" VFs; a 500 and a 1000; both '86. Factory manuals too in case you need any info. _________________ Beth Braun

Back to the Kaw 650. They called that the "Baby Kaw" or "Baby Z-1". It was a quick, lightweight bike and should become a classic. The 76-77 900's are now "classics" as well.

my other youger brother wade, had a 77/78 kaw 650sr
that bike would fly. it gave me a good ride
i found it interesting that it had 4 way flashers and the exhaust header pipes crossed over so 1/3 2/4 exited the same pipes
had tubless mag wheels, the 650b model had the spoked wheels
I remember that bike, nice red color. Didn't Kelly buy it and layed it down? I replaced the pulser on the crank _________________ Blair

Yeah, Hi Rob
That's the bike Matt rode on his famous journey to Mexico isn't it?
yep, and there is a story to go along with why i ended up buying this bike instead of matt's 1100 that goes back to two years ago. its an 83 VF750F. i am going to take it back to its original blue and white, and make a few of the usual modifications to it like upgrading suspension, wheels, tires, and get the kit to fix the oiling issue these particular bikes [83 to 85] had. i know matt redid the bottom end and what all work he needed to do to make this engine hold together, since it was his ride to baja and back at mach speeds. i think that the bugs he picked up from that trip are still on the front of the bike. its pretty dirty.
as for the 86 manual. i dont think there would be a lot that applies since honda made some big changes between 85 and 86 making the bikes a bit different. and i do have a FSM for this bike. thanks.
i also own the red 81 CB900F and the 81 CB900 custom [under the cover] behind the interceptor. plus i have another CB900F in the back yard in parts and pieces. i dont have a clue as to why i think i need this many bikes. i guess i am just lucky, hmmmmm.......

BTW, for those that aren't familiar... Matt at PSB was a regular poster on the F site... he died on a bike a while back. He gave freely of old Honda sportbike tuning info and was a regular poster, and endeared himself to many of us over there for his free dissemination of knowledge and free spirit. We are extremely benefited from having known him in life
I was fortunate enough to have bought a special edition Keihin import FCR carb setup from him and I still have the note in his own handwriting from him about that sale. It is personal. May he rest in piece. _________________

I bought a 77 KZ650B(Custom) new in 78, 1850.00 out the door. Put a Kerker on it the next year. A 717 Kit the year after that. Would run with most anything all day long. Loaned it to a friend, he never came back
Hit a tree.
DOA
Now twenty or so years later I came back to the world of bikes with a 1982 GL1100 Interstate. No radio, no intercom--- Just headers and grin
