Hello all! Been a while for me, been spending a lot of time on another forum. My 81 Kawasaki KZ50 LTD is doing great. 13800 miles, got it at 13000. Now the question: When to change the oil? I am running Valvoline Conventional 10-40 four stroke MC oil. I ride mostly around town, a few jaunts on the superslab. Kawasaki recommends 3000 miles or 6 months. Some floks are recommending 2000 or 2 months. What say ye, enlightened vintage owners? I want to baby my baby (after all, she has earned it after 28 years), but I don't want to waste oil and give OPEC another reason to SCREW US on gas prices! (Sorry, had to get it out of my system, feeling better now.)

If you want to baby it like I do my 650...every 30 days (filters @ WALMART are only 3 bucks.. screw the oil, it's your baby) Removes the posibilty of any gas contamination in the crankcase hurting the motor, and my compression in all cylinders is almost as good as NEW!! GO FOR IT.
