YAMAFAN ,I think the name says it all. I got a 74 RD 350 , a 2000 XT 350 , A 1996 1100 Virago, a work in progress 1977 first year mono shock DT 400 , in one week picking up a 1975 DT 400 ready for the street. Just can't get enough of the Yammy Haw stuff!!
1980 XS11 SG, hard bagger, Pacifico fairing. Added Diamond seat, XS 850 drive hub, Harley Sporty mufflers. Freshened up the engine with new rings,, jugs and head off a 82 XJ 1100. Runs nice, rides great, good for 12 hr days with the Diamond seat. New Yamaha Black.
My first bike was a 82 Maxim 650. Loved it, new owner does too. It just won't quit and it'll keep up with about any traffic.

i have mainly all two strokes apart from a meguro ,NOS norton commando and a zx9.
in my youth i was always a yamaha man mainly to do with the racing but now its mainly kawasaki triples although i would like adaytona 400 yam

Looks like you got a TZ250 in there up on top, a '74 H2 triple, what could be either a '73 H1 or another '74 H2 in green trim, a Bridgestone rotary valve twin(not sure on displacement), your Norton, and what appears to be that Meguro.
Correct me on this as needed......my eyesight sucks anymore. Can't miss 2-stroke oil exhaust smell though! _________________

you are in the ballpark and know your bikes
the tz is a 350 but has red 250 number boards
the red bridgestone on the right is a 350 gtr ,unrestored with 3700 miles on it
opposite it is a samurai 250.
from right to left on the bikes at the front is Z1A (might still be in Z1B colours when the picture was taken!!)
H2B and H2C kawasakis!!

My first bike was this nice old '83 XJ650 Maxim, currently in dry storage.
Bought her not running from a guy who had her stored in his parents garage but they needed the space back. Got her for half of his asking price in June of '00 less that a month after I finished the m/c rider training course.
She had dirty carbs and needed a battery, a fuse box replacement and tires but was othewise in excellent shape both mechanical and aesthetic.
The bike I ride daily is this marvellous old '84 XVZ12 Venture 1200
I bought her on Ebay back in December of 2001. I just love the old gal, she's big, fast, powerful, agile reliable and comfy. What more could I ask? She came from Syracuse, in northern New York state. Apparently she lived in a bad neighbourhood where the kids would frequently tip her over at night. Consequently, most of her issues turned out to be cosmetic, that model is all about (now unobtainable) plastic bodywork. She had less than 20,000 miles on her when I got her. It could have been 120,000 or 220,000 miles for all I could tell from correspondence via Ebay, but turned out not to be. She is approaching 50,000 miles now and has a nice warm garage safe from maruading hooligans.
The family and I drove down and trailered her home just after new years of 2002. She was billed as a parts bike on Ebay, but sold complete with all her paperwork, which was important for the import / export between USA and Canada. (I learned some new hoops to jump through for that!) I was the second highest Ebay auction bidder, but the top guy backed out after the auction closed. Apparently he didn't fancy the drive from Boston to Syracuse NY to get her after all. I got her for my last bid.
I spent a year or so sorting out electrical (the previous owner had some funny ideas about electrics!), mechanical, carburetion, suspension and cosmetic issues. I put her on the road in Aug of '03 on the day of the big North America wide blackout! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeast_Blackout_of_2003
I took her out first day on a long ride around lake Simcoe http://encarta.msn.com/map_701513999/simcoe_lake.html and had just stopped in at my dad's place on the way home. I had noticed a strange issue with the clutch hydraulics working poorly when the bike was at operating temp so I parked it in his garage and got out an electric fan to cool the engine while we had a cupper. Just as I plugged in that electric fan, the lights went out across the continent! It was me after all, I caused it and all the investigations and enquires into the causes of the blackout never did get wise! (The hydraulics issue turned out to be moisture laden fluid which had an easy fix, once the lights came back on)

Well I currently own this YDS3 that I plan on restoring, an 04 Midnight Venture, and an 04 Midnight Roadstar that I customized myself.
Past bikes include my first - an Exciter 250, then an 84 Honda Shadow, an 87 Midnight Virago, an then a V-Star 1100 that got traded in for the Roadie.

Believe it or not... this thing sat outside on the coast of oregon for 7 years. I fueled it, got a battery, hot wired the broken ignition switch AND IT STARTED
AFTER (well, getting there anyways):
shut up, it was free
converted to low pipes, electric start works flawlessly
I've slowly been working on it for about 2 years, new pistons and bore, lots of nos stuff.

I got a Yamaha! Not vintage but I love it! My daily ride is a 99 Yamaha 650 V Star Classic. I've put almost 30,000 trouble free miles on it since I bought it new in 99. I even have the original battery in it! World record for me as any other battery I've ever owned usually only lasts 2-3 years! Gotta be gettin time for a new one though soon! And I know they aren't cheap! I think they want over $100 for one, but if it last another 9-10 years, I won't complain!! Jack _________________ Jack
