First off hello! I am new to this site and would like to introduce my self. My name is Joe and I have all types of bikes including Buell ,Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and KTM.
I have recently purchased a 1987 GSXR 100 Blk/Red from a third party for 500 beans. I am not sure if I want to clean it up and use it as a daily or weekly rider or stretch the swing arm and take it to our local drag strip. The bike is in fair shape and at one time looks like someone actually cared about it. It has a polished frame, swing arm and rims on it. BUT it looks like that person gave it to there ungrateful little spoiled brat child and they ... well it needs alot of screws fairing bolts and some cosmetic scratches repaired. I need some wisdom from the forum in regards to $$$ it will cost me to make it the way it should be. Any links local shops or web sites for parts would be great!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who LOVES the 86/87 GSXR family!
My suggestion, keep it old school!

I think after talking to a serious collector I will make this bike bone stock minus a 180 rear tire! Then give it to my son so he can ride it to school when he turns 16. It will be a great winter project for us and he will learn about the bike this way! Very Happy

Hmmm..... a GSXR 1100 to a new 16-year old driver to commute to high school??

Better make sure you REALLY trust his skills and his maturity. Perhaps double-check your health insurance policy for good measure. Smile

Still, it looks like a great bike and a neat project.

Keep us posted.

My son is pretty good. He has been eyeballing my XB 12R for a while. I had a 87 1100 GSXR when I was 17. He races CRA motor cross and have put him on a NSR 50 a few times out at Thompson Drag raceway on there gocart track. I was thinking about hooking him up with Fastrax race school at Nelsons Ledges. We are about 5 minutes from there. Damon is on the end of the line in this picture, riding his YZ125 he bought this year, with his own money! Yeah! Thats a whole bunch of stalls to clean. LOL
