So I have a carb issue with my '73 TC100. When starting up, it runs fine. However after a couple minutes, it bogs and won't rev beyond 1/2 throttle. It runs like the choke is on. It does this in 1st and 2nd gears and slightly in 3rd gear. Never in 4th. I've cleaned the carb numerous times. Points and condenser are new and set correctly. Timing is spot on. Why won't this rev!

Any ideas why it's choking? To much fuel? Do I need to lower the needle to lean it out?

Oh, also the problem mostly goes away after riding it for 20 minutes or so.

Have you taken a look at the plug? Does it look black and sooty (rich) or white (lean)?

Reminds me of a problem I had in the past and sounds like the exhaust may need cleaning out. Pull the baffles and see if that changes how it runs. If the exhaust is full of soot, oil, and dirt it won't let the engine rev.

Not sure why it would run ok after 20 minutes though.

I pulled the plug and it's definitely running rich. So I dropped the needle to it's lowest setting and that helped. Perhaps I need to change of a smaller main jet?

What's the best way to clean the carbon out of the pipe?
