That IP sig thing is a classic. Laughing It only shows you your own IP address and is totally harmless.

Mark,

In my opinion Flashchat is currently the best chat script out there from a usability standpoint. By a landslide people seem to prefer it. Its intuitive and it just plain works. I would not recommend any of the PHP based chat programs. They do not work well. The biggest complaint with those is that people intermittently get tossed out of the chat room especially when things get busy. The Chatview thing is just something I came up with because nobody ever did a nuke block before. Im sure someone has come up with something more creative by now but if you want you are welcome to play with the block that I did..

Cheers,

Dave

Here you go. Now I remember, this was a pre-existing block for postnuke or something that I had reworked.
You should be able to just copy this up to your web root. You may have to adjust the path in the block to your flashchat installation.

I'd still need to install Flashchat, right? What version are you running? There was a hacking issue on some version last year or so.

Thanks!
D

I'll see what the folks over at raven nuke have to say

I tried the beta,, couldn't get it to work, so i dumped everything and started over with 4.7.12 Works like a charm! exactly what i wanted! And the chatview worked out of the box. Thanks dkrager!

That security issue has been fixed for a while now. They were really fast about putting out a fix. If you ever get any spare time on your hands you gotta check out the A.L.I.C.E bot. It’s funny as hell. I had a custom one over on CBX World for a while that I called “Alice the skankbot.” I had her re-wired to flirt. You can also customize them to do things like respond with unrelenting insults if someone starts insulting them. It’s Hilarious.

Everyone had fun with it and knew it was just a joke until one day I got an email from a guy wanting me to apologize to Alice because his internet connection kept timing out and he didn’t want to come off as rude.

He had about a 2 week relationship with her and then finally emailed me wanting me to delete his account because he did not want to be part of any site that had “hussies” like this around.

I finally broke the news to him that he had been dating an artifical bot and we both got a good laugh. Laughing

Cheers,

Dave
