This Is My, "Rebel Rouser's ", Trip Report For The 3rd Annual NGW Get Together Run, "The Silver And Gold Run", June 20th-23rd 2008

Friday June 20th 2008 Meet And Greet
Final Pick Ups And Setup Out In Fernley, I Took The '76 "Bober" Out To My Brothers And He Brought Me Back To Town, I Then Drove The Camper, Fully Loaded With The Sani-Hut Trailer In Tow Out To Fernley With GoldBagger Following Me. Redneck Dave, GoldBagger, Tyra And Myself Unloaded Everything And Started The Setup Of "Camp Redneck"... Bev And hmratbam Arrived With The Rest Of The Supplies, One GL1100 Dresser And One Trailer'ed GL1100 "dbopper" And We Finished The Setup And Unloads. Carrol, Redneck Daves Wife, Got Home From Work, GoldBagger Had To Go Home And Then Rod Willis Arrived.

We Got Some Early Picts And We All Went Out To Dinner. We All, Redneck Dave, Carrol, Reba, And Greg (Redneck Dave's Children), Bev, hmratbam, Rod, Tyra And Myself Enjoyed A Great Meal At Bully's In Fernley. Bev Even Saved Some Womans Life That Was Choking To Death. Back Out To "Camp Redneck" For The Stories And Night Caps... The Redneck Family Stayed In House, Bev And hmratbam Stayed In Town At A Motel, Rod Found Some Rocks To Stretch Out On And Tyra And I Crashed In The Camper, The Sun Was Lit All night As Dave's Porch Light Sensor Broke And His Flood Lights Would Not Go Out....

Saturday June 21st 2008 Poker Run
Got Up In The Morning And Started The Coffee, Had Danishes And Finished Hanging Flags. Waiting On Morning Arrivals, Passed Out Shirts And Run Stickers, Signed Up People For The Poker Run, Bboard Was The First To Arrive On His 78 GL1000, Next Was Eddie And Danny On Their Crotch Rockets, Then Mark S. On His 77 GL1000 Dresser. We All Pulled Out, With Redneck Dave Leading, And Headed North Out Of Fernley Up To Nixon Nevada Where We Held The First Poker Stop.

Then We Headed West, With Eddie Leading, Along The Bottom Of Pyramid Lake Till We Came To Pyramid Hwy And Headed South Into Sparks Nevada. When We Got To Spanish Springs I Took The Lead And Lead Everyone To My House, Where We Had Our First Incident, hmratbam Was Parking His Bike And Laid It Over, He And Greg Fell Off, No Damage Was Caused To The Bike Or Them.

We Then Left My House And Eddie Led Us To His Pizza Parlor Where He Had An American Cancer Society Banner Hanging And He Was Going To Donate 25% Of The Days Take To The ACS, We Even Had The News Crews Show Up And Got On Film... This Was Also Our Second Poker Stop. We Enjoyed Our Lunch And Rolled Out To Reno Road Rider With Mark S. Leading The Way. Reno Road Rider And Street Rider Of Reno Were Our Third Poker Stop.

We Then Headed South On 395, With Danny Leading, To Geiger Grade Where Bboard Took The Lead And Led Us Up Into Virginia City, This Was Our Fourth Poker Stop. Some Of Us Enjoyed The Sights, Some Spent Money And Some Just Hung Out And Talked The Talk. We Received A Phone Call From Reba And Bev To Let Us Know The Power Was Out At Camp And It Was Raining, But They Were Going To Use The Gas Oven And Grill To Cook The Food. Eddie And Danny Left Us At This Time And Headed Back Home.

JBZ Joined Us And Lead Us Out Of VC Down Six Mile Canyon To Dayton Nevada, Redneck Dave Then Led Us East On Hwy 50 To Silver Springs Where We Turned North On alt 95 To Fernley And "Camp Redneck". Back At Camp We Had Our Last Poker Hand Pull, Tyra Won High Hand With Trip Ace's And Rod Won Low Hand With 2 3 4 6 7, So Tyra Won The Leather Jacket And Rod Won The Chaps, And Everyone Else Got A Box Of Rubber Gloves From Napa.

The Winds Started To Pick Up And Our Canopy Started To Blow Away, I Tried To Anchor It With My "Bober" And Two Minuets Later It Blew My Bike Over, Second Incident... Down Came The Canopy And All Three Banners, Randakk's, NGW's And Crescent Moon Cycles', Bboard Had To Leave Us At This Time To Go To Work. At This Point We Had More Arrivals For The Barbeque, Bob And Sherrie Mernickle Of Mernickle Holsters And Two Friends Arrived And My Father Larry.

I Was Holding Everyone Up From Eating At This Point For An Important Moment In My Life, Tyra And JBZ Were Bugging Me On What Was The Hold Up, (Cell Phone Calls), I Got Everyone's Attention And Spun Tyra Around In Her Chair And Stated " We Met At A Bike Event And It Only Seems Fitting That We Do This At A Bike Event. You Wanted This To Be Done Traditionally And All I Asked Of You Was Pick Your Damn Ring, Well You Picked Your Ring, So" Down On One Knee, " For Nine Years Now I Have Wanted Your To Marry Me And You Have Said No, You Finally Picked Out A Ring, I Want You As My Wife For All My Life, I Want You As My Wife Till Forever, In Front Of All Our Family And Friends Here, Will You Marry Me" I Am Shaking So Bad By Now... And She Said With A Tear In Her Eye... "YES"...

Dinner Time. After Dinner There Were Stories And Then Our Extended Guests Left And Mark S. Went Home To Tahoe, JBZ Went Home To Dayton, And Bev And hmratbam Went To Their Motel Room, Rod Slept In The Back Of Daves Truck On This Night, Tyra And I In The Camper. Dave Disconnected His Flood Lights So We Could Sleep... But I Don't Know About The Rest, I Got No Sleep... Still Shaking...

Sunday June 22nd 2008 Lake Run
Got Up Sunday Morning, Started The Coffee And Breakfast, Arrivals Started To Show Up, We Were All In The Garage When We Heard wrrrrrrrr.... Bike On It's Side. Pat Bird Went Too Deep Into Daves Driveway And Laied His Full Dressed GL1800 On It's Side, Got It Up And Parked It, No Damage. WildBill Showed Up In His Truck To Ride hmratbam's "dbopper". Bev Held Sunday Services, And We All Rolled Out, South From Fernley With Redneck Dave In The Lead To HWY 50 West To Six Mile Canyon And Up The Back Way To Virginia City.

We Met Up With GoldBagger And His GL1200 In VC. We Then Headed Down Geiger Grade Where We Picked Up A Harley Rider That Just Was Going To Reno, And Bboard Who Had To Flip Around And Catch Us. We Got To The Bottom Of Geiger Grade And Reba Got Off hmratbam's Dressed GL1100 And Got Onto GoldBagger's GL1200 And WildBill Lead Us Up Mount Rose To Lake Tahoe. Just As We Were Dropping Into The Lake The "dbopper" Broke Down, Wild Bill Coasted To The Intersection Of Mount Rose Hwy And Hwy 28, We Pulled Off The Road And Discovered The Rear End Was Not Working, Motor Ran, Drive Shaft Spun And No Rear Drive. I Called Mark S., Who Lives On Lake Tahoes West Side, And Had Him Bring His Trailer Out To Us So We Could Tow The Bike. We Then Decided To See What Was Wrong And Pulled The Bike's Rear Drive Off. We Found The Circlip That Holds The Coupler To The Driveshaft Had Fallen Off, A Little Too Big. This Is The First Time Ever In hmratbam's Life He Ever Had To Lay On His Back To Repair One Of His Vehicles On The Side Of The Road, We All Knew It Would Not Be Last. We Repaired The Bike And Had It On The Road By The Time Mark S. Showed Up.

hmratbam Road Tested The Bike And We Were Off And Rolling Again.
We Then Headed North/ West Around The Lake With Pat Bird Leading To Our Lunch Stop At "Fanny Bridge", We Only Had One Small Problem In This Leg, Some Stupid Tourist With All His Windows Down Made A Lane Change From The Outside Lane To The Fast Lane On On A Two Lane Stretch Of HWY 28, In Doing This He Tried To Push WildBill Into Oncoming Traffic... My Temper Got The Best Of Me Seeing This. I Raced Up To The Side Of The Car And Asked In A Threatening Voice What The F This Guy Was Thinking, He Damn Near Jumped Out His Driver Side Window, Guess I Got His Attention... We Continued To Our Lunch At "Fanny Bridge", At This Time Mark S. And His Wife Janet Joined Us On Their Dressed 77 GL1000. Pat Bird Could Not Find Anything To Eat At Out Stop Due To His Diabetes, So He Left Us To Find A 7-11 And Would Catch Us Or Call Later, Bboard Had To Leave Us To Go To Work At This Time As Well. After Lunch Mark S. Led Us To Emerald Bay Where We Did Some Sight Seeing, We Then Headed For South Shore.

As We Were Going Through The Ten Mile An Hour Switch Backs The "dbopper" Broke Again, I Had To Race Ahead To Catch The Front Of The Pack And Let Them Know, Bike Repair On The Side Of The Road Number Two, This Time Mark Ran Into South Shore And Got Us A Circlip One Size Smaller To See If We Could Repair The Bike Again. Repair Done Bike Back On The Road And Away We Go... Five Minuets Later Same Thing, This Time We Agreed To Say Screw It, Mark S. Went To Get His Trailer, GoldBagger Had To Get Home But Agreed To Run Reba Home First, So Redneck Dave And Carrol Went With Them Back Out To Fernley. My Fiancee Wanted To Go Get Munchies And Drinks For Those Of Us Still There So hmratbam Took Her To 7-11 In South Shore To Get The Stuff, Incident Number Four, hmratbam Laid The Bike Down In The Driveway At 7-11 Due To Some Pedestrians Getting In The Way, No damage And No Injuries. Rod, WildBill, And Myself Played Road Side Games While Waiting For hmratbam And Tyra To Return, Then All B.S.ed Till Mark S. Arrived With His Trailer, We Loaded The "dbopper" And Mark Agreed To Deliver To My Garage In The Morning.

At This Point We Were Losing Day Light, So We Headed For HWY 50 And Straight Out To Fernley. We Arrived About Two Hours Behind Redneck Dave. JBZ And Dinner Was Waiting For Us And We Held The Raffle, The Two Grand Prize Winners Were Brant, Won The GoldWing Anniversary Jacket, And hmratbam, Won The Anniversary Dealership Only Poster. Rod Got Furthest Ride And Received The GL1000 Shop Schematics. Every One Won Prizes, Present Or Not. By This Time JBZ And WildBill Left, Bev And hmratbam Went Back To Their Motel Room, The Redneck Family Closed Up House, Work In The Morning, Rod, Tyra And Myself Sat Up In The Garage Shooting The S**t.

Tyra Went Out To The Camper To Get Her Stuff Out Of Our Refer And Then I Hear " DARWIN COME HELP, I THINK I BROKE MY NOSE". Never Knew I Could Run So Fast. Got To Her And Blood Everywhere, She Said She Slipped On The Step Coming Out Of The Camper, Lost Her Hand Hold And Went Face First Onto A Telephone Pole, My Brother Has Across The Front Of His House As A Bump Stop, And Bounced Off Onto Her Rear... Rod And I Stayed Up With Her Checking On Her For An Hour Before I Took Her back Into The Camper, I Then Spent The Rest Of The Night Up With Her, Checking On Her All Night. No Broken Bones, Splinters In Her Right Cheek, Bit Through Her Lower Lip, Crushed Her Upper Lip And Nose, PAIN!!!

Monday June 23rd 2008 Breakdown
Got Up In The Morning Had Bev Look At Tyra And Make Sure She Was Ok. Tyra, Bev, hmratbam, Rod And Myself Broke Down Camp And Pack Everything Up. We Enjoyed Lunch And Headed Out, Rod To Sonora California. Bev And hmratbam Trailered My Bike Back To My House And Picked Up The "dbopper" And Headed Out From There, And I Went Home And Unloaded The Camper. Tyra Spent The Day Under Ice, The Next Day We Went To Her Doctor And Got Good News, No Breaks And No Long Term Damage.

All In All It Was A Great Event, The Over All Numbers Were Down From Projections And Last Minuet Changes, But With What We Had It Was A Great Run, I Want To Thank All The Sponsors, Vendors, And Donators For All The Help, And To All Who Came Out For This, Thanks For A Good Time

That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It

Congratulations Rebel Rouser!!! For two things. #1 is your going to get married. And you thought riding a naked goldwing was fun! #2 on putting on a great event. Sounds like it turned out awesome and everyone had a good time. I wish I was closer. My custom 83 Aspencade naked would be sweet with all of the other naked wings. Keep the rubber side down!

I will make sure and keep my 1983 Aspencade converted to Hot Rod. IMHO, it is the only naked wing with air compressor, digital gauges and chrome fenders. I will post pics soon. I need a gunfighter seat to really set it off. What mufflers work well on these things and looks good? I love riding it and customizing it. Just went 101 mph on the way into work. Where's the honeymoon? Wink
