Hi All, Newby alert!

I am in Braintree Essex UK. I have just bought a 1982 Honda CBX 550 as a restoration project.

Thing is a lot of it is in boxes, so I am struggling with exactly where some of the bits go, exactly how things are connected etc. I have a workshop manual, but it is not clear in many areas. If there are any other keen CBX550 owners I could sure use some help in terms of close up photos etc.

It was the result of an engine failure, the previous owner got hold of another engine, stripped all the bike down (far more than needed I am Sure Rolling Eyes ) placed the new engine in the frame, put in a couple of bolts to hold it in, and thats where work stopped!

I have a couple of items missing, so far I have identified the gear change lever, the chain guard and the battery retaining strap.

My biggest concern is the engine, so my intention is to do a compression test, providing thats okay then I will clean and fit the carbs etc and attempt to fire it up. Assuming it runs okay then start a bit more restoration work. I have some damage, I think 3 out of 4 indicators are broken, the mirrors are all wrong, but both these items are available.

Looking forward to spending more time on here.
